FEES

No Agency Academic Year 2025

It is expected that no unreasonable hardship is to be placed on the Exchange Visitor and fees. There are several non-refundable fees associated with each step of the application process and other fees that are specific to each applicant which WDTT and school districts cannot control. See below for the full list of program pricing and services provided.


PROGRAM FEES

  • After Applicant’s acceptance of the J1 Visa offer, Applicant agrees to pay Agencies a commission fee in the sum equivalent to ten percent (10%) of the gross annual salary. Commission fee is divided as follows: 70% goes to We Dare To Teach and 30% goes to Home Country Agency. Includes a non-refundable deposit of $1000 (Forfeited if candidate leaves program after documentation is issued to acquire Visa and/or if Visa is denied, or if you leave the program for any reason. If you are not successful with your visa appointment on your first try, you will be permitted a second attempt.
  • Agencies do not prorate candidate’s fees if candidate arrives after school has started. Payment is expected before deployment.
  • If there is a breach of this clause, Applicant agrees to pay a commission of $1,000 to Agency. Further, the Applicant understands and agrees that Agency does not guarantee employment to be secured and the applicant has not been promised by any person the same.
  • Placement/Mobilization/Monitoring/ Cultural Adaptation Cost - $900. You will not be permitted to travel without making this payment.
  • Housing, transportation, meals, and personal expenses to reside in the U.S. ((You must bring with you at least $3,500 to cover these expenses for the initial six to eight weeks until your social security number is received, and you begin receiving your regular salary payments.))
  • Medical insurance coverage for the first 90 days until you get onto the District's insurance plan – $500, which includes one year coverage to June 30, 2026 for evacuation and repatriation of remains.
  • Marketing Fee-$250
  • J-2 Dependent Fee (The Teacher Will Go To the School District To Make Arrangement After Arrival)


Application Processing Fees (non-refundable)

  • U.S. Government Fees – SEVIS fee ($220), Visa Interview Fee (Embassy - $185). Program Extension Application (U.S. Government Fee - $367 to extend the program). This fee is paid near the end of your 3rd Year when you are applying for year 4 & 5.
  • Foreign Credential Evaluation Fee – Please visit our website at www.wedaretoteach.org for the SpanTran link. We will not permit any candidate to pursue the program without transcripts and credential evaluation on file for the employer.
  • VIBOE Teaching License - $30 (WDTT will purchase the money order and send to the BOE)


Additional Expenditures include the following:

  • Airfare to and from the U.S.


Expected Work-Related Salary Deductions

  • Your salary is subject to Federal and State income taxes as well as Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) deductions.


Work-Related Bi-Weekly Deductions (Approximately):

  • Federal Income Tax and State Income Tax is approximately 15% of salary
  • Union dues (optional): $30.00
  • FICA Deductions (this is charged after two calendar years): 7.65% of salary
  • GERS 12% of your Salary
  • District's Insurance Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision after 90 days) through school district - $125.00 - $250.95 Bi-Weekly, dependent upon plan you choose and if family members are included).


Other Estimated Expenses

These estimated expenses are an example of the costs that Exchange Visitors may incur. Note: Costs may vary.

  • Estimate Food Costs - $250-$350
  • Estimated Housing Costs - $950-$1,200 for 1 to 2-bedroom apartment rentals + $150-$300 utilities
  • Estimated Local Transportation Costs - $40-$80/monthly
  • Phone & Internet - $75 - $110


If in doubt on your work related deductions then deduct 25 or 30cents from every dollar of your gross annual salary, then the remaining 75 or 70cents per dollar consider your take home pay.

FEES

Candidates From Agencies Academic Year 2025

It is expected that no unreasonable hardship is to be placed on the Exchange Visitor and fees. There are several non-refundable fees associated with each step of the application process and other fees that are specific to each applicant which WDTT and school districts cannot control. See below for the full list of program pricing and services provided.


PROGRAM FEES:

  • Program Fee is 10% of One-year Salary. After receiving the hired letter – A $2,000 deposit is required to receive the DS2019. It will not be issued until this deposit is received. $1,000 will be forfeited if candidate leaves program after the DS2019 is issued and/or if Visa is denied. (Each situation will be evaluated). If you are not successful with your visa appointment on your first try, you will be permitted a second attempt. The balance of this 10% fee is paid in 12months (after receiving first salary from the district) of equal installments during the candidate’s first year of employment with the district.
  • Agencies do not prorate candidate’s fees if candidate arrives after school has started. Payment is expected before deployment.
  • If there is a breach of this clause, Applicant agrees to pay a commission of $1,000 to Agency. Further, the Applicant understands and agrees that Agency does not guarantee employment to be secured and the applicant has not been promised by any person the same.
  • Placement/Mobilization/Monitoring/ Cultural Adaptation Cost - $900. You will not be permitted to travel without making this payment.
  • Housing, transportation, meals, and personal expenses to reside in the U.S. ((You must bring with you at least $3,500 to cover these expenses for the initial six to eight weeks until your social security number is received, and you begin receiving your regular salary payments.))
  • Required insurance before departing from your country: $500, must be paid with the deposit as the State Department requires that the candidates must be fully insured the moment travel commences to the United States. This $500 covers Medical insurance coverage for the first 90 days until you get onto the District's insurance plan, and it also includes one year coverage to June 30, 2026 for evacuation and repatriation of remains.
  • Marketing Fee-$250
  • Training/Placement/Mobilization/Monitoring/ Cultural Adaptation Cost - $900. To be paid prior to travel with the insurance.
  • Housing, transportation, meals, and personal expenses to reside in the U.S. ((You must bring with you at least $3,000-$4,000 (depend on your spending style) to cover these expenses for the initial six to eight weeks until your social security number is received and you begin receiving your regular salary payments.))
  • J-2 Visa for Dependents Fee – The Sponsor will directly handle the Family J2 Application when the J1 decides to apply for the family Visas.


Application Processing Fees (non-refundable)

  • U.S. Government Fees – SEVIS fee ($220), Visa Interview Fee (Embassy - $185). Program Extension Application (U.S. Government Fee - $367 to extend the program). This fee is paid near the end of your 3rd Year when you are applying for year 4 & 5.

These estimated expenses are an example of the costs that Exchange Visitors may incur. Note: Costs may vary.

  • Estimate Food Costs – $300-$350
  • Estimated Housing Costs – $1,000-$1, 300 for 2-bedroom apartment rental (critical to find roommates and share expenses) + $150-$350 utilities. As well, some local families do offer rooms for rent.
  • Estimated Local Transportation Costs – $50 for monthly bus pass
  • Phone & Internet – $75 - $110

US Mainland Academic Year 2025

It is expected that no unreasonable hardship is to be placed on the Exchange Visitor and fees. There are several non-refundable fees associated with each step of the application process and other fees that are specific to each applicant which WDTT and school districts cannot control. PROGRAM FEES

  • First-Year Program Payment: $3,000
  • Training/Mobilization/Monitoring/ Cultural Adaptation Cost - $1,500
  • J-2 Dependent Fee (Family) – $1000 is a one time payment
  • Housing, transportation, meals, and personal expenses to reside in the U.S.
  • ((As per State Department guidelines, You must be responsible for yourself, financially, throughout this process. You must bring with you at least $3,000 to cover these expenses for the initial four to six weeks until your social security number is received and you begin receiving your regular salary payments.))
  • Childcare Service Estimates - $150 to $250 weekly (approximate)
  • Medical insurance coverage, including evacuation or repatriation coverage, for the first 90 days until you get onto the District’s insurance plan – $200 (included in the Program Fees for the J1). Each Family Member must also be covered under this insurance prior to traveling. The cost per family member is also $200.
  • Year 2-5 Extension Fee for J1 DS-2019 is $1,000 and Family Member DS-2019 is also included in your payment of the $1,000. This payment must be submitted by June 30th each year to secure continued employment for the upcoming academic year, if rehired.
  • U.S. Government Fees – SEVIS fee ($220), Visa Interview Fee (Embassy - $185). Program Extension Application (U.S. Government Fee - $367). This fee is paid at end of your 3rd Year when you are applying for year 4 & 5.
  • Foreign Credential Evaluation Fee – $250 (approximate)
  • Illinois State Teaching License – $150 to $220 (you must apply to the Illinois
  • State Board of Education (www.isbe.net for a teacher license).


Additional Expenditures include the following:

  • Airfare to and from the U.S.


Expected Work-Related Salary Deductions (Approximately):

  • Your salary is subject to Federal and State income taxes as well as Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) deductions.


Work-Related Estimated Bi-Weekly Deductions (Approximately):

  • Federal Income Tax and State Income Tax is approximately 15% of salary (please use the 1040-NR when filing your taxes).
  • Union dues (optional): $30.00
  • FICA Deductions (this is charged after two calendar years): 7.65% of salary
  • District’s Insurance Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision after 90 days) through school district – $54.00 - $220.00 Bi-Weekly, dependent upon plan you choose and if family members are included).


Other Estimated Expenses 

These estimated expenses are an example of the costs that Exchange Visitors may incur.

  • Estimate Food Costs – $250-$350
  • Estimated Housing Costs – $750 - $850 for 1 to 2-bedroom unfurnished apartment rentals, or furnished is about $1,300 to $1,600 + $150-$300 utilities (monthly). You can also anticipate a deposit of approximately $500 for administrative fee, re-keying and cleaning from the leasing agents. Selma leasing agents require first and last month rent plus one month security for damages, to be paid prior to moving.
  • Estimated Local Transportation Costs – $40 for monthly bus pass. You may also UBER share rides or purchase a used car, ranging in prices of $3,000 to $8,000.
  • Phone & Internet – $75 - $110.

Confidential Disclosure Agreement Academic Year 2025

This Confidential Disclosure Agreement (the "Agreement") is effective as of _______________, 20___ (the "Effective Date"), between WE DARE TO TEACH (WDTT) LLC, and ____________________________________, a teacher applicant who WDTT has procured employment for.


As part of the foregoing, WDTT needs access to the terms and conditions of the specific job offer for Applicant, including information as to salary and benefits to be offered to Applicant, in order to fulfill its obligations to Applicant and others seeking job placement;

NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual promises of the parties, and of good and valuable consideration, it is agreed by and between the parties as follows:


(a) Applicant authorizes WDTT to discuss with any participating school districts, the exact details of the job offer, which has been made to Applicant, including matters of salary and benefits; and, Applicant will provide a copy to WDTT, of any written contracts entered into by Applicant as part of the job offer.

(b) That I have the capacity to and that I am willing to teach for the employer, in that State and for those grade levels mentioned.

(c) That I have agreed to be interviewed without force or intimidation and I have chosen to do so freely and voluntarily.

(d) That I have not been promised anything regarding permanent residence.

(e) WDTT agrees to use the information for the benefit of Applicant, and others similarly situated.

(f) WDTT will not disclose this candidate’s information to third parties, except if required to do so by law, and as part of its continued mission to facilitate the placement of foreign nationals with the candidate’s permission.

Deed Of Undertaking Academic Year 2025

Know all men by these presents:

I, __________________________________, of legal age, married/single, resident of __________________________________________ do hereby state and undertake the following:


  1. That I am an applicant of We Dare To Teach, LLC (WDTT) through their agency I have received the position of ____Teacher ___ going to the __________________________.
  2. That I solemnly swear that all the information regarding my application and employment are true and correct;
  3. That in case of any misrepresentation regarding the information in the preceding number, I acknowledge the authority of my employer or We Dare To Teach to have me deported from the place of employment and repatriated to the country of origin at my expense, and further, that I be liable for damages, the extent of which shall be determined by my employer and We Dare To Teach;
  4. That I have been informed and acquainted by We Dare To Teach that upon my deployment to the aforementioned site of deployment, I am responsible for all the expenses which may be incurred in relation to settling in the site of employment such as, but not limited to housing, board, lodging, food, transportation and all other such matters connected with my personal choice to accept this job and to relocate;
  5. I hereby undertake to bring the necessary amount of money needed to cover such expenses for a minimum of two (2) months from the date of arrival on the site of employment, or until my employer and I have completed all arrangements for me to begin receiving my first salary;
  6. I understand and agree that neither my Employer or We Dare To Teach are obligated and will not in any way extend financial assistance for upkeep, nor will I be extended an advance in Salary by my Employer.

Applicant Placement Academic Year 2025

THIS AGREEMENT, dated effective as of the ______ day of ____________, 20--, by and between We Dare To Teach LLC and Agent, hereinafter referred to as Agencies and __________________________________________ (hereinafter referred to as "Applicant or I" ).

WHEREAS, Agencies is in the business of assisting qualified Teachers with a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree but preferable a Masters Degree and a minimum of three (3) years experience to become eligible for a J1 Exchange Visitors Visa and for seeking and securing employment positions in the United States of America (USA), and

WHEREAS, Applicant is desirous of becoming an Exchange Visitor and obtaining employment with a Host School and Sponsor in the USA, and wishes to contract with Agencies to assist Applicant in finding/securing the same;

NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of their mutual promises made herein, and for other good and valuable consideration, receipt of which is hereby acknowledged by each party, the parties, intending to be legally bound, hereby agree as follows:


1. Services Provided: I understand that it is the purpose of your business to provide professional services in finding me a suitable position of employment to the best of my ability.


2. Acceptance: Accept means agreement by Applicant with Agencies to begin work. I understand that I am not obligated to accept any Sponsor that you suggest or refer me to. If I accept the Exchange Visitor’s Visa offered to me by a Sponsor as a result of Agencies’ lead (verbal or otherwise) within twelve (12) months of such lead, even though it may not be the position originally discussed with me, I will be obligated to pay you as per the terms of this agreement, based on one year’s gross salary.


2A. I am aware that I am barred from contacting any of the Sponsors the Agency refers my documentation to. Until such time that I have arrived and reported to the employer, I shall make no direct contact to or with the Employer / Sponsor. Should I decide to by-pass the Agency and contact the Employer / Sponsor directly, I am aware that I will be asked to leave the program immediately.


3. Referral: The candidate is barred from referring other candidates to the Sponsor with which Agencies found them the J1Visa.


4. Financial Terms: This contract is all-inclusive of the attached Program Fee Statement. After Applicant’s acceptance of the J1Visa offer, Applicant agrees to pay Agencies a commission fee in the sum of equivalent to ten percent (10%) of the gross annual salary. Commission fee is divided as follows: 70% goes to We Dare To Teach and 30% goes to Agencies from each of their recruited candidate. Agencies do not prorate candidate’s salary if candidate arrives after school has started. Payment is expected before deployment. 


Service fee includes:

a. All application procedures, recruiting, pre-interviewing and interviewing process and materials to get hired, out-country and in-country support, J-l training, virtual orientations of CFR 62, documentations, placement with an approved and accredited Host School, relocation assistance, placement, preparations, welcome and airport pick-up, consultations and evaluations preparations throughout the three years.

b. This placement is short-term, with an initial visa validity period of three years with a possibility to extend to five years.

c. I understand that this is a relocation of my choice and We Dare To Teach, LLC and the Employer are not responsible for my relocation. We Dare To Teach, LLC will assist me with locating furnished or unfurnished housing. However, I understand that it is ultimately my responsibility to find appropriate and suitable housing as per the State Department’s requirement that the J1 Candidate resides in a safe and healthy environment, not too far from the work location.

d. The Agencies have no control or influence over the US State Department and/or the Sponsor requesting the termination of the visa due to situations beyond our control.

e. Prior to deployment, candidate also agrees to pay a Training, Documentation, Mobilization, Monitoring and Cultural Adaptation Services as per the Program Fee Statement. It is understood that the fee is to be paid one time only and in full prior to deployment.

f. Payments for program fees, training, etc. must be made to Agency prior to arrival to the employer.


5. Sponsorship:

a. I confirm that I fully understand that __________________________________ is my J-1 Sponsor.

b. All decisions made by the Sponsor regarding all aspects of my visa sponsorship will be adhered to.

c. As an Exchange Visitor, I understand that it is my responsibility to be aware of and abide by all the rules and regulations (22 CFR part 62) associated with this visa.

d. I understand that the J-1 Teacher program is not to displace U.S. workers or be a conduit to permanent work and residency in the U.S.

e. I understand that I must contact the J1 Visa Sponsor within 24 hours if: I experience any major medical, psychological, or criminal incident; my housing address, my telephone number, or the location of my teaching changes.

f. I must check in at least once every 30 days during my program. If I fail to complete required check-ins my program sponsorship can be terminated.

g. I understand that if I bring J-2 dependents on my program, my J-2 dependents and I will abide by all J1 Visa Program’s regulations and rules.

h. Should my program be shortened for any reason, I will not receive a refund.

i. I will meet all deadlines that the J1 Visa Sponsor gives me.

j. Certain tax deductions are required by the U.S. Federal Government and State Laws. I understand that the net amount of pay that I receive, after taxes, will be less than the gross amount that my employer agreed to pay.

k. I understand that U.S. law requires that I file my 1040-NR tax forms by April 15th each year while I am in the Program.

l. I authorize the J1 Visa Sponsor to provide my health insurance and contact details to any medical providers I received care from should I be unable to complete information myself.

m. I authorize the J1 Visa Sponsor to access my medical information should I be hospitalized for any reason

n. I have communicated with the J1 Visa Sponsor all of my pre-existing medical conditions.

o. I will communicate with the J1 Visa Sponsor about any medical issues throughout the duration of my program

p. I acknowledge that My Candidate Checklist of documents must be mailed with tracking within 1 week of receiving my DS-2019

q. I acknowledge that I will be permitted to travel after my district has received My Candidate Checklist file.


6. Maintaining My Status in SEVIS:

a. I must maintain a good standing in SEVIS. I have a responsibility to cooperate with the J1 Visa Sponsor’s directives, including returning to my home country if applicable.

b. The information that I provide to the J1 Visa Sponsor for SEVIS, especially my housing information, must always be accurate.

c. I may remain in the U.S. for up to 30 days after my DS- 2019 program end date.

d. I am expected to return to my home country after completing my program. The J1 Visa Sponsor will not assist with a change of my visa status.


7. Consequences of Violating The Rules:

The J1 Visa Sponsor may terminate my program sponsorship for any of the following reasons.

a. I fail to maintain contact with the J1 Visa Sponsor.

b. I fail to submit the Department of State required Cross Cultural Activity (CCA) reports (two per academic year).

c. I leave my teaching position without prior consent from the J1 Visa Sponsor in writing.

d. I fail to report a second job.

e. I fail to report a change in my housing address or telephone number.

f. I am found guilty of or plead guilty to violating any local, state, or federal law.

g. I engage in behavior that may bring disrepute to the J-1 Teacher program.

h. I violate any J1 Visa Sponsor’s program rules.

i. I misrepresent my personal or medical information to the J1 Visa Sponsor.


8. Housing

a. I am, at all times, responsible for the cost of my own housing, meals, spending money, airfare, airport transfers, and transportation to and from my teaching location.

b. Any contract or agreement regarding housing is the responsibility of those named in the contract and not the responsibility of the J1 Visa Sponsor.

c. I understand that it is my responsibility to verify that my housing is suitable, affordable, and within a reasonable distance from my teaching location.

d. If I have a housing complaint, I agree to seek resolution directly with my property manager/owner and to inform We Dare To Teach within 24 hours of any issues I am not able to resolve on my own.

e. I am responsible for reporting my current housing location to the J1 Visa Sponsor at all times within 24 hours of any move. Failure to do so may result in program sponsorship termination.


9. Guarantees to Applicant: (1) That the Applicant can refuse any position offered. (2) The Applicant agrees not to contact any potential employer that Agency has informed applicant of during ongoing negotiations by Agency. If there is a breach of this clause, Applicant agrees to pay a commission of $1,000 to Agency. (3) Further, the Applicant understands and agrees that Agency does not guarantee employment to be secured and the applicant has not been promised by any person the same.


10. Amendment: This Agreement supersedes and cancels all prior agreements and understandings among the parties hereto, and contains all of the terms and conditions agreed upon by the parties, with respect to the matters herein provided for, and none of the parties shall be bound by any representations, warranties, covenants or conditions with respect thereto not expressly set forth herein. No modification of this Agreement shall be binding, unless the same shall be in writing and signed by the parties.


11. Governing Law: This Agreement shall be interpreted and governed by the laws of Florida.


12. Attorney’s Fees: In the event it is necessary for either party to resort to litigation or refer this matter to an attorney for enforcement of their rights hereunder, the prevailing party shall be entitled to an award of reasonable attorney's fees at the trial or appellate level in addition to any settlement or judgment by the court.


13. Captions: Captions and headings of the various paragraphs to this Agreement are for convenience only and carry no legal effect and shall in no way affect the interpretation or construction of the paragraphs of this Agreement.


14. Gender: Wherever appropriate, words used in this Agreement in the singular may mean the plural, the plural may mean the singular, and the masculine may mean the feminine or neuter, and this Agreement should be read in such a way as to give the appropriate meaning to the words.


15. Binding Effect: This Agreement shall inure to the benefit of, and shall bind, the respective heirs, personal representatives, successors and assigns of the parties, who shall be bound to carry out the provisions of this Agreement.


16. Invalidity: If any term or provision of this Agreement or application thereof to any person or circumstance shall be invalid or unenforceable, the remainder of this Agreement or the application of such term or provision to persons or circumstances other than those to which it is held invalid or unenforceable shall not be affected thereby and each term and provision of this Agreement shall be valid and enforced to the fullest extent permitted by law.


17. Waivers: Any waiver by any party of a breach of any provision of this Agreement shall not operate as or be construed to be a waiver of any subsequent breach of that provision, or of any breach of any other provision of this Agreement. The failure of a party to insist upon strict adherence to any term of this Agreement on one or more occasions shall not be considered a waiver or deprive that party of the right thereafter to insist upon strict adherence to that term or any other term of this Agreement. Any waiver or modification of this Agreement must be in writing.


18. Testimonial and Contact Source: Applicant agrees that after approval of the J-l Visa, Applicant permits the Sponsor, the Agency and We Dare To Teach to use any and all photographs to promote the program on the organizations’ websites and any other printed material that Agencies may decide to use for promotional purposes only.

19. Further, Applicant agrees to always provide Agency with updated email address, physical address and telephone number information in order to more efficiently comply with the conditions of this agreement and the conditions of the J-l Exchange Visitor's Visa.

20. I acknowledge that the approval of the visa rests with the US Immigration and Naturalization Service, and Agency has no control over their decision, and I will not resign from my present job until I have an approval on my J-l Exchange Visa.

21. I hereby acknowledge and grant permission to the Sponsor to discuss my personnel file and contracted salary terms and agreement with officials of We Dare To Teach at any time during my Visa permission period.


22. Acknowledgment: I hereby acknowledge that I have read and accept the terms of this agreement and that the facts stated in the foregoing application are true and complete. I also hereby acknowledge that a copy of this contract has been made available to me. I further acknowledge that I have not paid anyone, nor have I been asked to pay anyone any money to get my resume to We Dare To Teach, LLC to acquire this Job.

23. I acknowledge that My Non-compliance to any part of this contract can result in removal from the Program


IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the signing parties acknowledge they have read and agree to the conditions of this Agreement. Please note that the date signed may be different due to the fact that the parties may be in different locations. Both parties represent that they have full authority to sign and enter into this Agreement and agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement. Further, each party has had the benefit of review and/or opportunity for advice of counsel prior to signing this Agreement as of the day and year first above written.
